Monitoring Requirements Not Met by Chester Water Authority

We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not your drinking water meets health standards. We also must notify you whenever monitoring is not completed as required.

During the third quarter of 2011 (July 1 - September 30), we did not complete the required monitoring for nitrite A sample was collected on July 13, 2011 to be analyzed for nitrite. However, a mistake occurred at the certified laboratory doing the analysis and the sample was discarded without being analyzed. We were not notified that this occurred and did not discover the error in a timely manner.

A fourth quarter (October 1 - December 31) sample was collected on October 12, 2011. Nitrite was not detected in it. Nitrite was also not detected in first and second quarter samples collected on January 5, 2011 and April 13, 2011, as well as a makeup sample collected November 16, 2011.
