Where's the Master Valve?

Do you know where your master water supply valve is located? Does everyone else in the family know where it is? If there is an emergency, you’ll need to respond quickly to turn off your water supply.  You cannot afford to waste precious minutes searching while your floors and carpets are  drenched.

The most likely location for the master valve is where the water supply pipe enters your home. Every home, apartment, and business has one master water supply valve. Once you’ve located this valve, mark it with a tag, a bright ribbon, or colorful paint. Make it easy to see. Show your family members where it is and how to turn the water off. If an emergency happens — and we hope it doesn’t — you’ll have to act quickly. Do your part to use water wisely.  Every drop counts.

Paying Your Water Bill

CWA accepts your water bill payments in a variety of ways. You can detach the bottom part of your water bill and send it with your check or money order in the self-addressed envelope that accompanies your water bill. If you have misplaced this envelope, please use the following address:

Chester Water Authority
P. O. Box 467 Chester, PA 19016

You may also pay your water bill in person at our Main Office Building located at 415 Welsh Street in the City of Chester. You may use the cashier’s window in the lobby or the drive-up window.  Do you need to come into the building to talk with a Customer Service Representative? Parking is available directly behind the Main Office Building for customers and visitors and there is a rear entrance for your convenience.

Another convenient option is to “pay by phone” if your bank offers this service.

In some stores, you may see signs posted that read “Pay Your Water Bill Here.” Please be aware that these stores are not authorized to accept payment for your water bill. Customers use these stores at their own risk, and the Authority is not responsible for payments that do not reach our Business Office. Do you have any questions? Call us at 610-876-8181 or 800-793-2323. Someone in our Customer Service Department will be happy to answer any questions.
