Chester
Water Authority’s capital program is designed to have the facilities
in place to take care of tomorrow’s customers as well as today’s
customers. Foreseeing a
growth in population in the areas of Concord and Thornbury Townships
in Delaware County, Chester Water Authority has constructed a new
booster station and replaced a water storage tank.
The Broadmeadows Booster
Station was constructed to replace an older booster station.
The new Broadmeadows Booster Station, put into service in
mid-November 2000, is located right outside the George W. Hill
Correctional Facility (formerly the Delaware County Prison).
The pumping capacity has increased from 800 gallons per minute
(gpm) to 1,000 gpm.
The Authority has also
constructed a new 300,000-gallon water tank.
This tank replaced a 150,000-gallon tank that has since been
dismantled and removed. The
new tank is located near the new booster station and is on the grounds
of George W. Hill Correctional Facility. This larger storage tank was officially put into service on
Friday, July 20, 2001.
The total cost for both of
these projects was $1.1 million.
So why are these replacements significant for Chester Water
Authority? Population in
our service area is growing, and it is our job to make sure the water
is there for our customers when they need it! |
