Managing Water Quality Data

Chester Water Authority is tracking every step your water takes until it comes out of your tap.  At our Octoraro Treatment Plant, located in Lancaster County, the Authority has installed software to manage the water quality data that is collected by laboratory and operating personnel.  With a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) having been put into operation recently, water quality data will soon be readily accessible to Authority personnel.  Having the data available electronically will make it easier to analyze and use in day-to-day operations.  It will also increase the efficiency of compliance checking and routine reporting of data to regulatory agencies.

As a state-certified laboratory, the CWA Octoraro Treatment Plant laboratory is required to make numerous quality-control checks to demonstrate that the data reported by the laboratory is accurate and valid.  The LIMS will assist laboratory personnel in documenting and managing this information more efficiently, as there are over 20,000 water quality analyses performed annually by CWA.

Chester Water Authority is making sure that all the right tools are in place to serve our customers.
