Susquehanna
Pump #3 Is Operational
Reliability
is a top priority at Chester Water Authority. Supplying our
water to you when you want and need
it is important to us.
The Octoraro Reservoir is one source of our water.
The Conowingo Pool of the Susquehanna River is CWA’s
second source. The Susquehanna River is especially important in drought
conditions, such as the drought that occurred during the
summer of 1999. Several
significant improvements have recently been completed at our
Susquehanna River Pumping Station in order to ensure an
adequate water supply for all of our customers.
A
third pump providing 15 million gallons per day (MGD) was
added to the station. If
one of the two existing 15 MGD pumps at this location needs to
be taken out of service for maintenance, we will still have
the capacity to pump 30 MGD.
In addition, the electrical switchgear and motor
control equipment for the pumping station was replaced and
updated with the latest electrical switchgear equipment and
technology.
When
we need the water from the Susquehanna River, we have the
facilities in place to ensure an uninterrupted flow of water.
You can depend on Chester Water Authority for
reliability and commitment to excellent service!

Chester Water
Authority vs. Bottled Water
|
|
As
a customer of Chester Water Authority, you are provided the
best-tasting water in the tri-state area, as determined by the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Philadelphia region Drinking
Water Taste Contest. Not
only does our water taste great, it is available to you at a super
price. Our rates are
substantially lower than those of private (for profit) water
companies in the area.
|
|
|
|
They
are also significantly lower than the price of bottled water
that you find on the grocer’s shelf.
Bottled water can cost anywhere from $1 to over $2 a
gallon. For just
one penny, from CWA you receive 2˚ gallons of the
best-tasting, highest-quality water that money can buy.
For the one penny, you also get it delivered to the
pipes inside your house.
CWA supplies you with quality water at a great price.

Toilet leaks are the number-one water
waster in the home and can account for an unusually high
water bill. If
you have a toilet leaking 1/8 of a gallon per minute, you
waste 180 gallons every day.
For a leak of this size, you will pay over $16 a
month for water that was wasted.
If you suspect that your toilet is leaking, Chester
Water Authority will send you a color dye kit, at no
cost to you, which will help you test for a
leak. This
kit will easily show you if you have a leak, even if the
leak is a slow one.
Call Chester Water Authority’s
Customer Service Department at (610) 876-8181 or (800)
793-2323 to request this free kit and instructions. |
