Fire Hydrants and Your Safety

During the summer months, people often turn to fire hydrants as a source for cooling off. Opening a fire hydrant is not only illegal but also dangerous. An open hydrant can create a significant drop in water pressure, which can severely jeopardize the fire department’s ability to combat a fire. The low water pressure can also be an inconvenience for residential customers who may also experience discolored water in their homes.

There is also the matter of safety, because the gushing water can make it difficult for drivers to see children who may be playing in the street.

Open hydrants also waste precious water, which is a cost that eventually affects all customers.

Customers who see anything suspicious concerning fire hydrants should call CWA at 610-876-8181 or 800-793-2323 anytime — day or night.

Water Quality Report: 2003

Beginning in March, the Authority began mailing the Water Quality Report for calendar year 2003 with customer water bills. The report has been produced in accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. Because the report follows standards set by the EPA that are fairly technical, it contains a glossary to help you better understand it.

We are proud that our water meets or exceeds all state and federal regulations! And we are pleased to be able to provide this information to our customers!

If you haven’t already received your copy or would like to have another, give our Customer Service Department a call at (610) 876-8181 or (800) 793-2323 and one will be mailed to you. Or click here to read the web site version of the Water Quality Report 2003.
