Annual Meter Replacement Program

 

$800,000: This annual program provides for the systematic change out of the water meters in the system with new water meters that have radio-read technology. This allows the meter readings to be gathered from a moving vehicle, greatly improving the efficiency of our Meter Services Department.

   

2006 Customer Information System Replacement

$400,000: Replacement of the 10-year-old Customer Information System with a modern system that will improve the interaction with customers when they call or visit the main office to discuss their account and increase the efficiency of use by CWA personnel.

   

2006 Water Main Rehabilitation

$2,000,000:  Rehabilitation of water mains to improve the water quality and fire flow capability of older mains in the system.  The 2006 project focused on an area in the western portion of the City of Chester.

   

2006-2007 Tainter Gate Rehabilitation

$1,200,000: This project on the CWA Pine Grove Dam is mandated by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and consists of the rehabilitation of the two Tainter gates on the Octoraro Dam.  The Tainter gates allow for the proper control of water flow through the reservoir.

   

2006-2007 Octoraro Treatment Plant Upgrade

$6,000,000: This project is the first phase of the 10-year plan to modernize the Octoraro Treatment Plant.  The improvements from this project will allow CWA to more efficiently operate the plant and produce higher quality drinking water.

   

2006-2007 Susquehanna Raw Water Pump Station Upgrade

$2,700,000: This project is the second phase of the 10-year plan to modernize the Treatment Plant.  The project includes replacing the existing river intake structure, installing a fourth pump, and construction of a masonry building that will house the three existing pump motors at the station.  

   

2006-2008 Transmission Main #2 Replacement

$1,900,000: Replacement of approximately 2,500 feet of 42-inch-diameter transmission main #2 in Lower Oxford Township, Chester County.  This section of transmission main has experienced structural deficiencies over the last 30 years.  The replacement of this section of main will improve the reliability of the overall water system.

 

2007 Financial Information System Replacement

$400,000: Replacement of the existing 10-year-old Financial Information System with a modern software system.  This will improve the efficiency of all the financial transactions performed by the Authority and will increase the efficiency of users.

   

2007 Harrison Hill Tank Repainting

$500,000: Complete repainting of the interior and exterior of the Harrison Hill Tank.  The routine refurbishment of storage tanks extends the useful life of these valuable assets.
