The year 2001 was significant in many respects for Chester
Water Authority.
This year
we celebrated 50 years of delivering high-quality water from
the Octoraro Treatment Plant to our customers. When the plant
opened in 1951, it was capable of providing 18 million gallons
of water per day. Today, the Octoraro Treatment Plant is
capable of providing 60 million gallons of treated water per
day –– consistently meeting or exceeding all applicable
federal, state, and local governmental standards for treated
drinking water.
This 50th anniversary issue also highlights our consistency
of purpose, including the resolve of the Board of Directors
and management to meet our financial responsibilities to bond
holders through implementation of a rate structure that
ensures proper debt coverage.
With the tragic events of September 11, 2001, our nation and
its utility structure were reminded of the vulnerability of
public facilities and the constant need for vigilance and the
ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
We continue to achieve our mission to provide ample
high-quality potable water at the most reasonable value to our
customers through the dedication to excellence of the
employees of Chester Water Authority, working under the
direction of a committed and knowledgeable Board of Directors.
